An essential component of parish ministry is ensuring the safety of our parishioners, particularly the most vulnerable – children, the aged, and the infirm. Several years ago, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe began requiring Abuse Awareness Training for Adults of all employees of the parishes within the Archdiocese, as well as ministry volunteers such as yourself. The training helps us to be aware of what is inappropriate behavior so that we can avoid such behaviors ourselves and recognize them when we see them in others who might pose a threat. Policy requires that employees and ministry volunteers of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe need to take the instruction every five years. This includes an updated criminal background check.
You will receive a letter if it has been more than five years since your last received the training.
If you are interested in serving in a Parish Ministry, you will be required to complete the
Virtus Training. The training may be done in one of two ways. You may attend a class in person at The Catholic Center on the campus of St. Pius X High School, or you may receive the instruction on-line. There is no expense to you either way. Please be sure that the parish and school offices have your completed certificate on file when you finish the training.
If you have any questions, you may call the parish office at (505) 265-5868, or the Archdiocesan coordinator at (505) 831-8144. Thank you for your participation in parish ministry. Please help us ensure that we are complying with the policy of protection and creating a safe environment by updating your training about abuse awareness and prevention.
