In response to the latest Health Order from the New Mexico Department of Health, and instructions from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, the following changes will be implemented at Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
Persons who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are not required to wear a mask or practice social distancing within the church. They may continue to wear a mask if they choose to do so. Persons who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to continue to wear a mask in the church and practice social distancing.
All members of the choir have been fully vaccinated and will be seated in their pre-COVID configuration. We have returned to singing the various parts of the Mass – the Gloria, Sanctus, Lamb of God, etc.
Missalettes have been placed in the pews once again. We were not able to get our full number of missallettes (“Today’s Missal”) and music books from the publisher, so some alternate missallettes (“Breaking Bread”) have also been placed in the pews. These books include the music in them. Please do not take any missallettes or music books home.
We will continue to use the drop boxes near the entrances of the church for your offertory envelopes or cash donations. Those who wish to do so are encouraged to make use of our on-line giving option available on the parish website (www.fatimachurchabq.org) . This can be used for a one-time offering or on a recurring basis.
Parishioners may exchange a sign of peace, but please realize that some people may still be uncomfortable making physical contact such as a handshake. If the person near you does not make a motion to exchange a handshake, simply nod your head and offer a verbal greeting wishing them peace.
Those who wish to receive Holy Communion on the tongue may do so, but are encouraged to wait until the end of the Communion line. For the time being, we will continue to distribute Holy Communion only under the form of the Sacred Host. After receiving Holy Communion, please return to your pew for the Prayer After Communion and the Final Blessing.
Archbishop Wester has extended the dispensation from the Sunday Obligation for Mass attendance for those who are still fearful of attending a public Mass. Such persons are encouraged to watch a TV Mass.
