Confessions during Mission—6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Join us for this special Lenten Mission presented by Rev. Christopher Hallada, Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This retreat explores how we, as Catholics, can better live out our belief in the Eucharist, allowing the Real Presence of Christ to guide us in our active lives of faith.
The Catholic Church emphasizes the importance of “active conscious participation” in our celebration of the Mass because our shared prayer guides us in our beliefs and the way that we live “in the world but not of this world.” This requires us to accept our vocation as “the Mystical Body of Christ,” allowing the experience of the Eucharist to move us forward in glorifying the Lord by our lives.
Day 1, Monday, March 11th:
Lex Orandi — How do we approach the Eucharist?
Our first evening will explore how we pray during our sacrificial thanksgiving of the Mass, better opening our hearts to the transformative power of Christ’s Body and Blood. We will find inspiration in the writings of Pope Benedict XVI and Henri de Lubac as we approach the mystery of the Eucharist.
Day 2, Tuesday, March 12th:
Lex Credendi — What does the Eucharist teach us?
Our second evening is an opportunity for us to encounter Christ more fully and understand what the Eucharist teaches us. We will meditate on John 6 and Matthew 25 as a way of entering into the living reality of the Sacrament.
Day 3, Wednesday, March 13th:
Lex Vivendi — How do we live the Eucharist?
Our final evening will focus on the example offered by members of the Liturgical Movement in preaching the gospel by the witness of our lives. We will explore the meaning of the Mystical Body of Christ as it pertains to the way that we enact the social teachings of the Church, recognizing the dignity of the human person from conception through natural death.
