Our 2024-2025 Parish Religious Education Program will offer weekly faith formation classes for children not enrolled in a Roman Catholic School. Our program consists of class study and preparation for the reception of the sacraments. It is the moral obligation for Catholic parents to ensure that their children receive instruction in the
Catholic faith. Failing to meet that obligation could be sinful. The goal of the Parish Religious Education Program is to assist parents in enabling and encouraging students to learn more about and live their faith. In all things, Mass attendance, service to others and love of neighbor is promoted.
Catechism Classes for students in grades K-7 will be held every Sunday (except Holidays), beginning September 15, 2024 and ending May 25, 2025. The weekly program will begin with Mass at 10:00 AM followed by classroom instruction from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Parents are required to attend the first class on September 15th. 10:00 AM Mass Attendance is Mandatory. Families cannot be excused from 10:00 AM Mass because they attend another Mass time. Attendance is taken at Mass, families and students must sit together in an assigned area and please note that only three absences are allowed.
Registration for Catechism begins August 13, 2024 in the parish office. At the time of registration, we will need a copy of the student’s Baptism Certificate, First Reconciliation and First Communion Certificates if they have received these sacraments.
There is a non-refundable registration/book fee per child for all grades to help cover the cost of books and supplies. The parish subsidizes the Religious Education Program because the registration fees alone only defray the cost of the textbooks and do not cover the actual cost of the entire program. Registrations are due August 28, 2024.
In order to register for CCD, parents will need to fill out a registration form and provide:
Non-Refundable $75.00 Book fee in cash or check for Active OLF Parishioners
Non-Refundable $100.00 Book fee in cash or check for Inactive/Non-parishioners
A copy of their child’s Baptism Certificate and others if applicable.
Bring students to Mass at 10:00 am and pick them up on time at 12:30 PM
*The fee may be reduced or waived in cases of financial hardship as donors may be able to help.
If your child will be making their First Communion (3rd grade), there is a test booklet that needs to be picked up at the time of registration.
Those preparing for First Communion will be given information to study each night in preparation for two big tests that are given prior to First Reconciliation and First Communion. If your child DOES NOT pass, they cannot make the sacrament.
If public health conditions at any time do not permit in-person gatherings, we will continue scheduled classes via video-conferencing sessions in which you will be notified via email.
