From September 25th through November 3rd, you are invited to join other Christians who will be participating in “40 Days for Life.” This will be 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. As part of our participation in “40 Days for Life,” parishioners are encouraged to engage in prayer, fasting and almsgiving, the three traditional means of penance. You may join others in prayer for the protection of pre-born children on the public access space outside of Planned Parenthood at 701 San Mateo NE, or pray at the church and in your own home.
Parishioners from Our Lady of Fatima are being asked to pray outside of Planned Parenthood for some period of time between
7 AM and 7 PM on October 22nd. Parishioners from other parishes are being asked to pray on other days and you may join them, if you wish. If you are unable to be present outside of Planned Parenthood, perhaps you could spend some time in prayer in our church, in your home, or on a break during your workday.
You may engage in fasting as a sacrificial act to be in solidarity with pre-born children who are in danger of being aborted. You may also participate in fundraising efforts for the work of Birthright and other organizations that seek to give women in crisis pregnancies an alternative to abortion. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving – all ways in which we can ask for God’s grace in moving human hearts to protect the most vulnerable in our society – children within the womb.
